Resveratrol – Top Nutritional & Health Benefits of Resveratrol For Women
September 7th, 2009 by admin

Resveratrol is a powerful antioxidant found in plants. It has been given the term polyphenol because it gives plants the ability to protect themselves from bacterial and fungal infections. This chemical compound is present in the fruit skin of grapes as well as in blueberries, mulberries, bilberries, peanuts, and din the Japanese knotweed.

Among the beverages, red wine is the only drink that contains Resveratrol, owing to the fact that it comes from grapes. This interesting substance also triggered the French paradox. It says that since drinking red wine has been embedded in French dining, the French people’s ageing process is slowed down. Since then, resveratrol has been yoked to health benefits such as anti-aging especially among women, and as anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, and anti-mutagen.

Studies suggest that the effects this chemical has shown when experimented on animals are yet to be determined on humans. However, one key factor to gaining its health benefits is for this polyphenol to reach the main bloodstream. For after all, blood plays a very significant role in the person’s health and life. And for one to enjoy its health benefits, resveratrol must be set to a standard concentration of 50%, which is often called trans-resveratrol.

Red wine varies when it comes to resveratrol content. Some have a high content while others use a minimal amount. Excessive drinking of red wine, just to have the right amount of the anti-oxidant, is not advisable for it may pose health threats to the liver.

Supplements answer this dilemma in one point. That point is that supplements with enteric coating (therefore containing resveratrol and other essential antioxidants) provide the best results in anti-ageing. Enteric coating allows the supplement to pass the intestines, which in turn grant access to the bloodstream.
